Sophie did not want Jansie to know anything about her meeting with Danny Casey because Jansie was a gossipmonger. She took interest in knowing things about others, but would not keep any secret. Sophie feared that Jansie would tell the whole neighbourhood about this and Sophie’s fantasy would be exposed.
