Who were Sutas? What functions do they carry out?

Sutas were the charioteer bards of the Kshatriya warriors. The Sutas also composed poems in praise of the Kshatriya warriors they accompanied to the battlefield. Their texts were widely circulated in the society and people used to get insights into the bravery of these warriors.
