What were the coins ‘saying’ to him? Do you think they were misguiding him?

The coins actually spoke to him. They told him not to think but spend them on jalebis coming out of the kadhai in the shop. Jalebis are meant to be eaten and money meant to be spent. They made too much noise and attempts of persuasion till their voices choked.

Yes, they were misguiding him, persuading him to eat jalebis out of the money meant to be deposited for the school fees.
