What is demographic cycle?

Demographic cycle is a theory that focuses on changes in birth rate and death rate and consequently on the growth rate of the population. The birth rate and death rate gets affected by economic development. The theory tells us that population of any region changes from high births and high deaths to low births and low deaths as society progresses from rural agrarian and illiterate to urban industrial and literate society.
