What are the ‘Pull’ and ‘Push’ factors of population migration?

The ‘Push factors, pushes people away from their home. These factors make the place of origin less attractive for reasons like unemployment, poor living conditions, political turmoil, unpleasant climate, natural disasters, epidemics and socio-economic backwardness.

The Pull factors ‘pull’ people to a new home for better opportunities make the place of destination seem more attractive than the place of origin. The reasons people migrate are usually economic, political, cultural, or environmental. The reasons for this are better job opportunities and living conditions, peace and stability, security of life and property and pleasant climate.
