Life is Full of Surprises
The day started off well enough, whoever I thought it would turn out to be the best day of my life. When I got up in the morning the day seemed very normal, as it used to be on the other days. I got up and went to brush my teeth, had my tea, took bath, got ready for school and was about to leave for school within few minutes. Just to pass time, I picked up the newspaper to go through the important news headlines.
As I got busy reading the page, suddenly I saw a small column declaring the names of some lucky winners, their telephone numbers and e-mail address. It was the result of the top 10 students of my city, who had participated in the “Swachch Bharat Abhiyan”. They had given their viewpoints and submitted them online to D.M. of our city. We had to give new ideas suggesting how we could keep our surroundings clean.
Two months back, I also had participated in this competition through my school. We had to compulsorily participate and there was no option. I just used my mind and wrote something imaginative which I forgot later. Even our school never informed us about any lucky draw or prizes. I was really astonished to see my name, telephone number and e-mail address in the newspaper and I was wondering why I had won?
My name was on top of the list. But something was written below to get details, some telephone number was given. I was so confused. I enquired and informed my parents, even they had no idea. Suddenly my younger brother remembered and said, Bhaiya, maybe you have won in “Swachch Bharat Abhiyan” competition”. His guess was perfectly correct.
I left for school along with my brother, and meanwhile, my father told me not to worry, he would call that number between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to find out the details. When I reached school, everybody congratulated me on my success. I had won a scholarship for two years in that school along with a laptop. Some respectable guests came from Nagar Nigam, they gave me the scholarship certificate gifted and laptop. My hands were trembling. But somehow I had managed to take it.
The guests said, “Your point of view is the most appreciated one. From next week we will work on your suggested point, which will definitely change the infrastructure of the city.”
The next day, I was called to the Mayor’s office, for a small press conference and photography. That whole night I didn’t sleep. I was recalling back the point of view which I had submitted but didn’t remember at all. All my family members were very excited, they helped me in memorizing my view. Special thanks to my genius small brother who helped me in recollecting my memory once again.
The next day, the press conference was also a great success. So, my day started off well enough, which I thought, would bring a lot of happiness in my life and would turn out to be the best day in my life.
