Write a short note about Kalpana Chawla’s achievement.

India born Kalpana Chawla was the first India-American woman to become an astronaut, who participated in a successful mission in space. She took her bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering in Chandigarh, India. She went to the United States of America to get a master’s degree and then Ph.D degree in the same subject. She had a license to fly single and multi-engine land airplanes, single-engine seaplanes and gliders, she was an expert pilot. She was also a certified flight instructor. She was hired as a research scientist at NASA and then, NASA selected her for training as an astronaut to go into space.
