Why is Jansie so critical of Sophie?

Jansie was a practical girl who was grounded in reality. Since both Jansie and Sophie belonged to a lower socio-economic background, Jansie understood that they were both earmarked for the biscuit factory. She understood that the dreams that Sophie had, requires a lot of money and were not achievable, so she was so critical of Sophie.
