What is meant by ‘Selling Concept’ of marketing?

According to the selling concept, firms believe that aggressive selling and promotional efforts will convince a customer to buy the product. Due to increased competition, only quality and availability of the product do not ensure survival and growth of the firm. So, the main focus of the selling concept is to conduct aggressive selling and promotional efforts to make customers buy their products. It must be noted that a selling concept can succeed in the short-run but not in the long-run.
