Kamboja was located close to Gandhara probably around Afghanistan. The Kambhojas were regarded as uncultured by the Brahmanical texts of the seventh century BCE. The Arthashastra calls them Varta-Sastropajivm Samgha meaning a confederation of agriculturists, herdsmen, traders and warriors.
