How does Mrs. Pearson make fun of her husband? How does he respond to it?

Mrs. Pearson tells her husband that they laugh at him at the club and call him Pompy-Ompy Pearson because they think he is so slow and pompous. When his son, Cyril, also confirms it, he is shocked and staggers out of the room.
