What are the types of Hedonism?

There are two forms of Hedonism viz. Psychological Hedonism and ethical Hedonism.

Psychological Hedonism believes that pleasure is the natural object of desire. Man naturally seeks pleasure. Psychological Hedonism is a statement of fact. Ethical Hedonism believes that pleasure is the proper object desire. Man ought to seek pleasure. Ethical Hedonism is a statement of value.

Ethical Hedonism has two forms viz. Egoistic Hedonism and universalistic Hedonism or Utilitarianism. For Egoistic Hedonism, individual’s own pleasure is the highest good For Utilitarianism, pleasure of a number of people is the highest good.
