Does the poem talk of an exclusively personal experience or is it fairly universal?

The poem is autobiographical in nature. As such it talks of a personal experience and describes the relationship -between a father and his son. Yet, the experience of this father is fairly universal. Most fathers, the world over, are likely to have the same emotions. To have their sons by their side is their greatest desire.
