Five problems faced by road transport in India are given below:

  1. Volume of traffic and passengers is very large.
  2. Road network is inadequate.
  3. Half the roads are unmetalled, which limits their usage in rainy seasons.
  4. National highways too are inadequate.
  5. Roadways are highly congested in cities and most bridges and culverts are old and narrow.
